From Farm to Fork: The Role of Plastic Pallets in the Food Supply Chain

Plastic pallets improve the efficiency of cargo transportation when goods are transported from farms to factory. Farm workers only need to load the goods into plastic pallet boxes, then stack them on durable plastic pallets, and finally use forklifts to transport the plastic pallets and their goods to trucks. Compared with traditional manual transportation of goods, solid plastic pallets not only save labor costs, but also speed up the turnover of goods.

When the products are packaged and transported to the warehouse, rackable plastic pallets provide great convenience for efficient storage of goods in the warehouse. Compared with the traditional stacking method, the goods can only be stacked in one layer in the warehouse, which cannot make full use of the upper space of the warehouse. Although wooden pallets can be stacked in two layers, when the load-bearing capacity of the goods reaches a certain level, the structure of the wooden pallet will be deformed, which may cause the goods to collapse. Solid top plastic pallets can avoid this problem, especially in automated three-dimensional warehouses. The forklift puts the pallet and the goods on the conveyor belt, and then the automated robotic arm summarizes them on the shelf. This not only improves storage efficiency and reduces labor costs, but also the plastic pallet can have built-in chips to facilitate the staff to sort the goods.
